Answer

There are several ways to access census information and the answer depends on what type of information you are looking for. To access the latest decennial census, you can go to the U.S. Census American Factfinder webpage. This page allows you to bring up general census data by topic or geography. You can also retrieve data for more recent census estimates by using the American Community Survey.

For historical census data, you can also go to the Historical Census Browser from the University of Virginia. This website contains census information going back to 1790.

For census information for genealogical purposes, you can use the library's subscription database Heritage Quest Online, a searchable database containing images of decennial census forms.

For more census and statistical links, you can also visit the library's Statistical Information Research Starter.
